Multicultural Retention Services (MRS) Mission Statement

Multicultural Retention Services (MRS) strives to ensure the academic success, retention, and graduation of students through culturally inclusive programs and services that are designed to build a strong sense of community and belonging. We provide academic support, advising, referrals, and advocacy for first-generation, low-income, and/or historically underrepresented students.

SCHOLARS PROGRAMS

ACCESS

The ACCESS Scholars Program is designed to help support students during their first year at ��ֱ��State University by providing academic advising, help with identifying and setting academic goals, and referrals to campus and community resources.

EMPOWER

EMPOWER Scholars Program is a support program designed for first-generation, Asian and Pacific Islander identifying students (both transfer and freshman standing) entering ��ֱ��State University for the first time.

NATIONS

NATIONS Scholars Program is a one year support and mentor program for first generation, low income, first-time students who will be starting at PSU in the fall. The program focuses on the Native American/Alaskan Native student experience and culture.

GANAS

GANAS Scholars Program is designed to help new Latino/a students transition to P.S.U from high school. Students enrolled in this program will become active members of the campus community and will acquire skills and tools that will lead to continuing success beyond the first year at P.S.U

DSP

The Diversity Scholarship program promotes diversity and student participation in campus life through volunteerism and academic excellence.

Community Building

Empower Sisterhood

Empowering Sisterhood is a community building initiative, specifically designed for African American and African women, at ��ֱ��State University.

Men of Color

Men of Color was created to unite diverse populations, and build a thriving multicultural community, as well as provide space for men of color to analyze and change the institutional barriers they face.
