Navigating Access to Indigenous Opportunities through Networking and Support

NATIONS Scholars Program is a one-year support and mentor program for first-generation, low-income, first-time students who will be starting at PSU in the fall. The program focuses on the Native American/Alaskan Native student experience and culture. The program design is to assist new students in their transition to PSU through academic support and community-building activities.

Selected Retention Program Participants will be required to:

  • Participate in our Connect Program and College Success Class a week before Fall Classes begin
  • Actively participate in community building (social and cultural) activities and workshops
  • Meet with a designated mentor throughout each term
  • Seek out financial resources for the following academic year
  • Meet on a regular basis with designated program general advisor

Eligibility

  • High school seniors beginning their first term at PSU Fall 2022 or Incoming transfer students from a Community College or 4 year institution
  • First-generation (neither parent graduated from a 4 year university)
  • Admitted to ֱState University or currently in the process of admission
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Must be a full-time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours each term
  • Must not be involved with any ֱState University Athletics (GANAS and EMPOWER Program Only)
