Chamber Choir

Classics Today calls The ֱState Chamber Choir “amongst the finest choirs in the world.” Since its ֱing in 1975, the Chamber Choir has performed and competed in venues across the country and around the world, earning over 30 medals and awards in international choir competitions.

Rose/Thorn Choirs

Rose Choir includes exclusively tenor and bass voices. They rehearse (and often perform) with their vocal counterpart, Thorn Choir, which includes soprano and alto voices. The choirs are ideal for voice students that prefer to focus on solo work, this high-level ensemble rehearses twice-weekly and performs se

University Choir in performance

University Choir

Any student can join University Choir, and you won’t have to audition. For music majors, this may be a good fit if you are a member of other ensembles or have a packed schedule. The University Choir performs once per-quarter and providing a rewarding experience to a wide-range of voices and backgrounds.

PSU Vocal Collective in performance

PSU Vocal Collective

Composed primarily of Jazz majors this exciting 16-student group focuses on vocal jazz and pop music. If you are a vocalist or a member of the rhythm section, this can be a great group to perform with. The ensemble performs several times a quarter for different events, concerts, and festivals.

Vocal Studies

Vocalists enrolled in the PSU Voice program can choose from multiple degrees and a wide range of ensembles in which to grow and perform.

Ethan Sperry - Director of Choral Activities

Ethan Sperry began studying conducting at the age of eight, cello at the age of twelve, and singing at the age of eighteen. He has earned a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Harvard College and Masters and Doctoral degrees in Choral Conducting from the University of Southern California.

Along with her work as the Professor of Choir, Music Education, and Social Justice, Professor Morris is also the Founder of Being Human Together (BHT), a budding music education community striving to normalize difficult topics in our field through conversation and connection.

Sherry Alves is the Instructor of Jazz Voice at ֱState University where she teaches applied jazz voice, improvisation, jazz pedagogy, jazz vocal ensembles and combos, and special topics in music history.
