What is the purpose of PSU's Undergraduate Emergency Aid?

As funding permits, PSU's Undergraduate Emergency Aid provides undergraduate students with financial assistance when faced with an unexpected financial emergency that is impacting their ability to remain enrolled at PSU.

I want to apply but cannot access the application, why is it not visible/accessible? 

The application will only be active when funding is available. Currently we do not have the option for students to be placed on a waitlist to be notified when the application re-opens. Emailed applications are not accepted. Post-baccalaureate and Graduate students are not eligible for these funds and may not be able to access the form.

How long is the review process?

Depending on the amount of applications, the review process is estimated to take up to 5 business days. You will get an email when we have received and are reviewing your application with a more accurate estimate. Once an application is approved, funds then take 1-2 business days to be sent. 

Will funds be applied to my student account or sent directly to me?

Funds will be sent directly to you by direct deposit or paper check, as they are intended to help with personal expenses. Follow the instructions above to set up direct deposit if you have not already. 

What are common reasons for not receiving funds?

Common reasons students may not be granted funds are: 

  • Incomplete application (e.g. multiple blank or N/A answers),
  • Not enough room in their Financial Aid budget to accept additional aid,
  • Not registered for current term,
  • Indication of low or no risk of leaving PSU due to the emergency,
  • Indication of access to other funding or support that can assist with the emergency,
  • Request for assistance with tuition and fees,
  • Indication of an ongoing hardship - Emergency Aid is not designed to be an ongoing support for hardship.

Additionally, due to limited funding and high demand, we are beginning to prioritize students who have not received funds from us before. Emergency Aid is not designed to be an ongoing support for hardship.
