Where do I go for Advising?
  • If you are a recent high school graduate (First-Year Student), you will complete your advising/course selection online for your first semester. You will access advising through theÌý . You can also visit theÌý University Advising Services Ìýwebsite for additional information about advising/course selection through the EZ Advising.
    • First-Year Students with an AA degreeÌý do not complete EZ Advising you will be advised through the college of your intended major. For more information. please contact the Office for New Student Orientation at (561) 297-2733 orÌý orientme@fau.edu Ìýto arrange a meeting with an academic advisor. If you would like to contact the college of your major, links to each college can be found below.
  • If you are aÌý Transfer Student with fewer than 30 credits hours, you will complete your advising/course selection online for your first semester. You will access advising through theÌý . You can also visit theÌý University Advising Services Ìýwebsite for additional information about advising/course selection through the Online Advising & Resource System (EZ Advising).
  • If you are aÌý Transfer Student Ìýwith 30 or more credit hours, aÌý First-Year Student with an AA degree, orÌý Second Bachelor's Ìýstudent, you will be advised through the college of your intended major. How can I meet with my academic advisor?

Appointments with your academic advisor are made through the Success Network.

If you are unable to access your Success Network, visit theÌý University Advising Services website Ìýor the Student Services Office within the college of your major.

What is the General Education (formerly IFP) and how do I complete the courses?

All entering freshmen or transfer à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã with less than 60 credits must fulfill the university'sÌý Ìý General Education (Gen Ed) (formerly IFP) Ìý Ìýrequirements as part of their pursuit of the baccalaureate degree. While the Gen Ed courses do not necessarily relate to the major, they do provide a foundation of knowledge that all well-educated à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã should possess. The Gen Ed is comprised of a total of 36 credit hours.

  • 6 Ìý Ìýhours of Communication
  • 6 Ìý Ìýhours of Humanities
  • 6 Ìý Ìýhours of Social Science
  • 6 Ìý Ìýhours of Natural Science
  • 6 Ìý Ìýhours of Mathematics
  • 6 Ìý hours of Additional Enrichment (completion of 6 creditsÌý from Humanities, Social Science, or Natural Science)

How can I find out what transfer credits FAU accepted from my other institution(s)?

  • If you would like to know how transfer credits, if any, applied to the Gen Ed (formerly IFP), please submit aÌý Gen Ed Audit Request
  • For all other courses, please speak/meet with an advisor within your college to determine how your transfer credits will be applied to your degree program.
How can I change my major?
If you would like to change your major and you have NOT completed your EZ Advising form, you can request to change your major in EZ Advising. Just select the major you would like to pursue. Your advisor will let you know if the major you selected is not an option for some reason. If you would like to change your major and you have ALREADY completed your EZ Advising form, you will need to talk with an advisor.
